2026 Kia Seltos vs Hyundai Creta vs Tata Sierra: Engine options, specs compared
Kia is gearing up to open bookings for the new-generation Seltos on December 11. The model was unveiled recently and the bookings can be done for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Prices will be announced on January 2, and deliveries are expected to begin by mid-January. The updated Seltos will continue to compete in the much-contested space that now includes the newly launched Tata Sierra and the Hyundai Creta, which continues to lead the segment. All three models take different approaches when it comes to their powertrain lineup. Tata has given the Sierra the widest range of engine choices. It gets a 1.5-litre Kryotec turbo diesel that produces 118 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Buyers can also opt for a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine making 106 hp and 145 Nm, or a more powerful 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo petrol that delivers 160 hp and 260 Nm of torque.The Sierra offers a 6-speed automatic with the turbo petrol, a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with the NA petrol, and 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic options with the diesel.
Hyundai and Kia continue to share their engine family. Both the Creta and the Seltos offer a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that develops 160 hp and 253 Nm of torque. The familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor returns with 115 hp and 144 Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel option produces 116 hp and 250 Nm.In terms of gearbox options, all three SUVs offer a mix of manual and automatic transmissions.
