SSC GD Constable 2026: In a major update for aspirants, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the Computer Based Examination (CBT) for Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2026.The examination, earlier scheduled to commence from 23 February 2026, has now been deferred until further notice. The decision was announced through official communication dated 17 February 2026.What Exactly Has Changed?As per the notice, the CBT scheduled from 23 February 2026 onwards stands postponed. Fresh examination dates will be announced in due course on the official SSC website.Candidates who were preparing for the February schedule are advised to remain calm and regularly check the official portal for updates. The Commission has not specified a reason for the deferment.

No Slot Selection This TimeOne key clarification in the notice is that the slot selection facility will not be applicable for this examination.Instead, the “City Live” information will be made available 8 to 10 days before the commencement of the examination. This will inform candidates about their allotted exam city in advance.Admission Certificates (Admit Cards) will be generated 2 to 3 days before the candidate’s respective examination date, as per the existing SSC policy.A Quick Look At The Recruitment DriveSSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026 is a mass recruitment to hire 25, 487 personnel for the various CAPFs, namely, BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, SSF, NCB, and Assam Rifles.The notification was out on 01 December 2025 and the online application window was open for a month, 01 December to 31 December 2025. Candidates had time till 01 January 2026 to make the payment of fees, and the correction window was available from 10 to 13 January 2026.The candidate’s age between 18 and 23 years as on 01 January 2026 was taken as a criterion for eligibility to apply. Rs 100 was the fee for the General and OBC category candidates, whereas SC, ST, PH, and all female candidates did not have to pay any fee.What Should Candidates Do Now?Since the CBT has been rescheduled, candidates now have a bit of time for preparation.
