'Ghana ghoom rahe hain': Sanjay Raut takes 'vikas purush' jibe at PM Modi, flags poor roads in Varanasi

NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday launched a targeted attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the condition of roads in PM’s parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. “People are sharing photos of Varanasi roads on social media. Varanasi is the Lok Sabha constituency of the prime minister. However, he is unable to maintain the quality of roads in his constituency, he is unable to do ‘vikas’,” Raut said while talking to reporters in Mumbai. Visuals of a collapsed road in Varanasi have gone viral on social media. TOI also reported that pilgrims and kanwariyas travelling to Kashi during the holy month of Shrawan, beginning July 11, may encounter difficulties because of the poor condition of the route, especially near Godowlia. Also read: Shrawan woes – Kashi roads in shambles, kanwariyas to face hardships in cityFurther taking jibe at PM Modi, Raut said, “Vikas purush Ghana, Tinidad Tibago jaise mahaan desho’n mein ghoom rahe hain. Banaras ki janta unko dhoondh rahi hai. (The ‘Vikas Purush’ is touring great countries like Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, having food with them. People of Varanasi are searching for him.) Several accidents have taken place on pothole-filled roads in Varanasi, but nobody cares about it. The PM will come on helicopter, he won’t be able to see these potholes.”
