Dharmendra recalls the only time he slapped son Sunny Deol, ‘He broke all the neighbour’s windows with a shotgun’ | Hindi Movie News

The Deols are known for their warmth, love and strong family bond, but even the most affectionate parents have their moments of discipline. Veteran actor Dharmendra recently shared a rare and amusing memory from Sunny Deol’s childhood — the only time he ever slapped his son.“Once I had slapped Sunny. He was small at that time, and I had gotten him a shotgun, and he had broken all the windows of the neighbour’s house,” Dharmendra recalled with a laugh during his appearance on The RKB Show . “That was the only time I slapped him, but I kept calling back home to ask how he was after going to the studio,” he added, revealing the soft side behind the rare moment of anger.
‘I had two fingers imprinted on my face’
Sunny, who was also part of the conversation, remembered the incident vividly — and with his trademark smile. “At the time when Papa hit me, I had two fingers imprinted on my face,” he said, as the audience broke into laughter.Earlier this year, on Father’s Day, Sunny had penned an emotional note for his father, calling him his guiding light. “Happy Father’s Day, Papa. Your strength, your love, and your endless guidance have shaped the man I am today. Proud to be your son – always walking in your footsteps. Love you forever,” he wrote, sharing a series of old and new pictures with Dharmendra.
Carrying forward a legacy
Sunny Deol, Dharmendra’s elder son from his first marriage to Prakash Kaur, continues to uphold his father’s legacy of patriotic, emotionally charged cinema. The actor was last seen in Jaat (April 2025) and is now gearing up for JP Dutta’s Border 2, set to release on January 22, 2026 — a sequel to the iconic 1997 war epic Border, where Sunny will reprise his unforgettable role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri.
