The Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship has officially opened its Buffalo campus and is now accepting applications for fall 2026. This expansion follows the success of its original location in Rochester, which opened in 2023. The new Buffalo campus is housed in the recently purchased One News Plaza, a 160,000-square-foot building acquired by Tom Golisano for $10 million.The Buffalo campus aims to offer the same accelerated, non-traditional business education model that has attracted students in Rochester. This two-year programme focuses on equipping learners with practical business skills and real-world experience at a tuition cost of $8,900 per year.Golisano’s investment and commitment to Western New YorkTom Golisano, founder of the Institute and a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist, has long-standing ties to the Buffalo region. He was previously the owner of the Buffalo Sabres and recently donated $50 million to Oishei Children’s Hospital, which will now bear his name. Golisano’s acquisition of One News Plaza marks a significant investment in Buffalo’s educational and business landscape.Ian Mortimer, President of the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship, highlighted the success of the programme in Rochester. “Our first class graduated this past August, and we have clear evidence that the Institute’s approach yields business career success,” Mortimer said. He added that the Buffalo campus would provide the same unique opportunities to students across Western New York.Programme features and curriculumThe Golisano Institute offers a two-year business degree designed to deliver practical knowledge and experience quickly. Students gain exposure to the business world through multiple internships and the weekly “Speaking from Experience” series. This initiative invites successful business leaders and entrepreneurs to engage directly with students, providing real-world insights and networking opportunities.In addition to the core two-year programme, the Buffalo campus will offer a one-year Advanced Certificate in AI & Business. This course integrates artificial intelligence skills with business training to prepare students for the evolving digital economy.Community support and scholarshipsBuffalo’s business and political leaders have welcomed the Institute’s arrival. Terry Pegula, owner of both the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, pledged to endow ten scholarships for students attending the Golisano Institute. Pegula emphasised the importance of preparing more people with the skills the country needs.Erie County Executive Mark C.
