President of the United States Donald J. Trump has allegedly been thinking of commuting the sentence of the disgraced music mogul, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Earlier this month, the convicted felon was given a 50-month sentence for violating the Mann Act. However, the Republican reportedly has set his mind to sign the commutation documents and set him free as early as this week.
Donald Trump might commute Diddy’s sentence
While the White House staff has recommended not to act on the given decision, Trump is currently ‘vacillating’ on reducing the sentence. “Trump will do what he wants,” the TMZ report said, adding that Trump could even set Diddy free as early as this week. The 55-year-old was convicted on two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution after the trial. After serving 13 months, he could get out of prison in two years with credit. However, none of it will matter after the 79-year-old signs. After the sentencing, the media outlet had reported that Diddy’s legal team was in contact with a significant member of the White House, close to the President. A couple of days later, Trump even acknowledged that he was aware of the request for a pardon. “I have had a lot of people ask me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon,” he said on October 6, 2025. While Diddy and Trump were not on great terms, as the rapper endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election, it seems like the doors weren’t completely shut anyway.

The Bad Boy Records co-founder was sentenced on October 3 by Judge Arun Subramanian. During the trial, he was acquitted of two serious crimes: racketeering and sex trafficking. As of now, he hasn’t been assigned to a prison and continues to stay at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. However, the judge advised serving time near the New York City Metropolitan area.
