Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its Jimny 5-door SUV has crossed a significant milestone, with cumulative exports from India surpassing 1 lakh units. The model was launched in 2023 and is now shipped to over 100 countries.The Jimny 5-door, known as the ‘Jimny Nomade’ in Japan, made its debut there in January 2025. The response was overwhelming, with orders crossing the 50,000 mark within days. Besides Japan, key export destinations include Mexico, Australia, South Africa, and Chile.

The Jimny 5-door features a ladder-frame chassis and Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel-drive system. Powering this SUV is a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105 bhp and 134 Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV offers 210 mm of ground clearance.
Inside, the Jimny 5-door gets a 208-litre boot, and features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Arkamys sound, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with push start/stop. Exterior features include LED headlamps, fog lamps, and electrically adjustable and folding mirrors.In terms of safety, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold and hill descent control, and more.
Maruti Suzuki India: Growth story
Maruti Suzuki’s export growth continues to gain momentum. The company shipped over 2 lakh vehicles in the first half of FY 2025-26, marking a 40% increase and the highest-ever half-yearly export volume. Currently, Maruti Suzuki holds more than 46% of India’s passenger vehicle export market, having exported over 3.3 lakh vehicles in FY 2024-25.
