IND W vs AUS W Live Score: Reserve day rules

With Navi Mumbai’s unpredictable coastal weather, officials are keeping a close watch. To avoid rain dictating the fate of the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a reserve day for both semifinals and the final — ensuring the outcome is decided on the field, not by the skies.

As per ICC regulations, every possible effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day, even if overs have to be reduced. If rain intervenes, the game will resume from the exact point where it was stopped when play continues on the reserve day.

For example, if a full 50-over game is interrupted midway, it will continue as a 50-over contest the next day. However, if the overs have already been reduced — say to 46 per side — the match will resume from that adjusted point.

If persistent rain washes out play on both days, the team placed higher in the group stage will progress to the final. That means Australia, who topped the points table, would advance automatically if the semifinal is abandoned without a result.

And in the rare event of the final being washed out entirely across both days, the trophy will be shared between the two finalists.
