This past Saturday, Mumbai bid farewell to the esteemed actress Kamini Kaushal, who was lovingly interred in a ceremony led by her elder son, following the rituals of Hindu tradition. The film industry mourns her loss, with heartfelt messages pouring in from co-stars like Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, who celebrated her extraordinary grace and impactful performances.

Veteran actress Kamini Kaushal was laid to rest on Saturday in Mumbai. Reportedly her final rites were performed in the presence of close family members.The atmosphere at the Worli crematorium turned emotional as loved ones gathered to bid their final goodbye to the legendary actress.As reported by ANI, her elder son, Vidhur, performed the traditional Hindu rituals, leading the cremation ceremony. Earlier in the morning, her mortal remains were brought from her residence for the final rites.

As the news of her passing spread, tributes poured in from across the film industry. Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a nostalgic photograph of Kaushal from her younger days, adding a red heart, rainbow and folded-hands emojis, remembering her Laal Singh Chaddha co-star with affection. Shahid Kapoor, who worked with her in Kabir Singh, posted a collage of the actress from her youth to her later years, writing, “Rest In Light, Ma’am.” Kiara Advani also expressed her admiration, posting a picture of the veteran star at work. She wrote, “It was an honour to work with you. Your grace, humility, and talent inspired generations and left an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal Ji.”Kamini Kaushal dominated the silver screen in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. She appeared alongside iconic stars like Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Raaj Kumar and Dharmendra. Her debut film ‘Neecha Nagar’ (1946) was directed by Chetan Anand and it won the Grand Prix at the inaugural Cannes Film Festival. It is still the only Indian film to claim the Palme d’Or.Meanwhile, Kamini’s final screen appearance was in 2022’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ starring Aamir khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead.
