Mahindra and Mahindra recently announced that it has received over 90,000 combined bookings for its newly launched XUV 7XO and XEV 9S, with a total booking value of Rs 20,500 crore (calculated at ex-showroom prices) as of 2:00 pm on January 14, 2026. With bookings piling up, customers are having to wait longer for their cars to be delivered. And now, the waiting period for the XUV 7XO has stretched to as much as one year for select variants. Based on the latest waiting period chart, the Mahindra XUV 7XO sees wide variation in delivery timelines across variants and powertrains. The AX variant has the longest waiting period, stretching up to 12 months for both petrol and diesel manual versions, while automatic options are currently not listed. The AX3 trim has a waiting period of around five months across petrol and diesel variants, irrespective of whether buyers opt for a manual or automatic gearbox. Similarly, the AX5 also commands a waiting period of about five months for both fuel types and transmission options.

The AX7T stands out with one of the shortest queues, as both petrol and diesel variants across drivetrains have a waiting period of up to four weeks. At the top end, the AX7 L variant has a waiting period of around four months for petrol versions, while diesel variants extend to about six months across drivetrain options. Design-wise, the overall silhouette remains the same, but it gets a complete design overhaul at the front and rear. It features a redesigned front grille with new C-shaped LED headlamps and also gets new 7-shaped DRLs that wrap around the headlamp cluster, paired with trapezoidal LED lighting elements. The recently introduced XEV 9S appears to have inspired parts of the overall design. From the side, the silhouette closely mirrors that of the outgoing XUV700, apart from newly styled alloy wheels, while the rear is marked by a full-width LED light bar and a reshaped bumper design.Inside, again, the interior of the new 7XO takes inspiration from the XEV 9S and features a beige-tan colour scheme. Highlight of the cabin is a new triple-display layout that includes a fully digital driver’s cluster, a central touchscreen for infotainment, and a separate screen for the front passenger, and here to just like the XEV 9S, it’s offered as standard. The cabin also introduces a fresh two-spoke steering wheel, while the centre console has been reworked to swap traditional climate-control buttons for a sleek touch-based interface.Features include a triple screen setup, 6-way powered front seats, front and rear ventilated seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, two wireless chargers, panoramic sunroof, Boss Mode for the front passenger seat, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, dual-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety-wise, it gets Level 2 ADAS, a 540-degree camera, ESC, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ISOFIX seat, TPMS, front and rear sensors, hill descent control, hill hold assist, auto-dimming IRVM and more.Mechanically, the SUV remains the same with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic; the diesel is also offered with AWD.
