Bihar polls: Who is Rameez Nemat, the man behind Rohini Acharya’s exit from RJD; all you need to know about the feud | India News
NEW DELHI: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya has levelled serious allegations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav and his close aides Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat, claiming they forced her out of the family and attempted to silence her after the party’s crushing defeat in the Bihar assembly elections. Her outburst came shortly after she declared that she was “quitting politics” and “disowning” her family.Speaking to ANI, Rohini said that she faced hostility when she questioned the leadership about the RJD’s performance. “I have no family. You can go and ask this to Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, and Tejashwi Yadav. They are the ones who threw me out of the family,” she said. She further alleged that she was “thrown out of the house, disgraced, abused, and even hit” during the confrontation. Her claims have intensified the political tremors within the family at a time when the party has suffered one of its most disappointing results, winning just 25 seats despite contesting more than 140.

According to IANS, Rameez hails from Balrampur district in Uttar Pradesh and comes from a politically connected family. He joined the RJD in 2016 and began by assisting with internal work in the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office during the Grand Alliance government. Over the years, he rose to become an integral part of Tejashwi’s political team, handling his daily schedule, key meetings, back-end coordination and campaign management.Rameez also shares a personal bond with Tejashwi, stemming from their cricketing days. He is the son-in-law of former Balrampur MP Rizwan Zaheer. His wife, Zeba Rizwan, is active in the Samajwadi Party in Shravasti and is preparing to contest the Tulsipur Assembly seat. Within the RJD, he is widely seen, along with Sanjay Yadav, as among the few who control access to Tejashwi and influence major political decisions.
Cracks widen in the Lalu family
Rohini’s decision has deepened the ongoing fissures in the family. Earlier on Saturday, she posted on X, “I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family … This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do and I’m taking all the blame.” Her exit follows the expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav from the RJD and the family earlier this year, after controversies linked to his personal life and social media posts. Tej Pratap later floated his own party and suffered a heavy defeat in Mahua. The immediate trigger for Rohini’s eruption was the RJD’s collapse in the Bihar election. The party’s tally dropped from 75 seats in 2020 to 25 this year. The Mahagathbandhan finished with just 35 seats in total, while the NDA swept 202. The BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) secured 85, and smaller NDA allies posted strong strike rates across the state. The results have intensified scrutiny over Tejashwi’s leadership and the growing clout of his unelected coterie, with Rameez and Sanjay Yadav at its centre.Meanwhile, Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal said the matter was internal but added that Rohini deserved sensitivity, noting that she had donated a kidney to Lalu Prasad Yadav. He said, “The way Lalu Yadav’s family is constantly falling apart due to one or two individuals, no one will like it.” BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the episode reflected deeper cracks in the RJD and added, “RJD is disintegrating, and the signs are not good.”
