Car sales Oct 2025: Maruti leads in first month after GST 2.0, how others performed

It was a busy month for carmakers in India as festive demand pushed sales to new highs. October 2025 was also the first full month after GST 2.0, which led to lower car prices and stronger buyer interest. Many brands recorded their best ever monthly sales, making it a strong month for the auto industry. Here’s how major carmakers performed in October.Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest carmaker, recorded domestic passenger vehicle sales of 1,76,318 units, a 10.48% increase compared to 1,59,591 units sold in October 2024. The company also supplied 8,915 units to Toyota Kirloskar Motor under their OEM partnership and exported 31,304 units during the month.Mahindra & Mahindra reported its highest-ever monthly SUV sales, delivering 71,624 units in the domestic market in October 2025, reflecting a 31% year-on-year growth. The continued demand for models like the Scorpio, XUV700, and Thar has kept Mahindra ahead in the SUV race.

Tata Motors reported its highest-ever monthly wholesales for the second consecutive month, with sales rising 26.6% to 61,295 units in October 2025, up from 48,423 units a year earlier. SUVs continued to drive Tata’s success, contributing over 47,000 units. The company’s electric vehicle portfolio clocked 9,286 units, up 73.4% from 5,355 units in October 2024.Hyundai Motor India sold 53,792 units domestically. Exports stood at 16,102 units, marking an 11% year-on-year growth. The Creta and Venue together achieved their second-highest-ever combined sales at 30,119 units.Toyota Kirloskar Motor also had a strong showing, registering 42,892 units in total sales for October 2025: comprising 40,257 units in domestic sales and 2,635 units exported. This marked a 39% increase compared to 30,845 units sold in October 2024.Meanwhile, Kia India delivered its best-ever monthly performance since entering the Indian market, with 29,556 units sold in October 2025: a 30% year-on-year jump from 22,735 units in the same month last year.Nissan Motor India posted consolidated sales of 9,675 units, registering a 45% month-on-month growth. On the other hand, Skoda Auto India achieved its highest-ever monthly sales of 8,252 units in October 2025.
