Legendary actor Dharmendra has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89 as confirmed by his team. The actor was admitted to the Breach candy hospital on Monday night as he complained of breathlessness. Known affectionately as the ‘He-Man’ of Bollywood, Dharmendra leaves behind an unmatched legacy spanning over six decades and 300 films. The cause of death has not been disclosed at this time. His last film will be Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Ikkis’ also starring Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh mourned the actor’s demise as he wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran actor and former MP Shri Dharmendra ji. A versatile actor who brought life to many memorable characters with his unmatched charm and sincerity. His remarkable contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers.” The legacy of ‘Garam Dharam’The late actor had charmed audiences in films like ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ in 2023 and ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ in 2024. He will be seen in ‘Ikkis’ as Brig. ML Khetarpal (Retd.) doubling up as the film’s narrator as well. The film is scheduled for a release on December 25, 2025. The film portrays the late Dharmendra as the father to newcomer Agastya Nanda’s role of 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal.The late actor’s versatility was his hallmark. He went on to seamlessly transition between being the romantic hero in films like ‘Phool Aur Patthar’ (1966) and ‘Aaye Din Bahar Ke’, to the rugged action star in films such as ‘Dharam Veer’ and Hukumat.
