Hero Glamour X review: Smart features, fresh design - is this the X-factor Glamour needed?

The Glamour has always been one of the most popular nameplates under Hero MotoCorp’s stable, ever since its debut in 2005. Back then, it was a no-nonsense commuter, and at its peak, the model clocked sales of close to 70,000 units in a single month. Fast forward to 2025, when the 125cc segment is being contested tightly and growing at a CAGR of 9%, Hero has brought out the heavily updated Glamour X 125. We got to spend some time with it, and here’s what we feel about it.

This is where the Glamour X surprises the most. It no longer looks like a plain commuter like it has always been. Instead, the motorcycle now carries a far sharper, more aggressive design. It now sports a muscular fuel tank with extended shrouds, a refreshed headlight with sleek H-shaped LED DRLs, and a sleek LED tail-lamp that also carries the H-shaped signature.

Besides that, it gets a new flyscreen, five twin-spoke alloy wheels with rim stickers, and neatly designed grab rail. Even small touches like the underbelly cowl and three-pod LED blinkers show that the folks at Hero wanted this to look premium. And as it pans out, it does look like that.

Speaking of ergonomics, the Glamour X has been set up keeping everyday comfort in mind. You sit upright, with a wide handlebar and slightly rear-set footpegs that make for a natural, composed riding posture. The seat is well-padded and offers enough room for both rider and pillion.

The Glamour X 125 is built around a diamond-type chassis, and it plays a big role in how the bike feels on the move. The motorcycle feels planted at speed and yet was also easy to flick around in traffic. During our ride, the bike showed good composure darting between gaps. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks in the front and dual shocks at the rear. Together, they work in sync soaking up potholes and broken tarmac quite easily. The rear suspension is tuned on the firmer side while the front is soft enough to deal with usual undulations you might come across on roads. Stopping power comes from a disc up front and a drum at the rear. The front feels sharp and does a decent job of hauling the bike down confidently, but the rear could’ve done with a bit more bite. The bigger miss, though, is ABS. It’s not on offer, and that’s a bit of a downer in 2025, especially when rivals are starting to bring it in. Would’ve really completed the safety package.

Now before we talk about the performance, here’s what it offers on paper. At the heart is a 124.7cc single-cylinder engine producing 11.4 bhp at 8,250 rpm and 10.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This is the same motor that does its duty in the Xtreme 125R as well. The motor is smooth, refined at low speeds, and feels well-matched to its commuter character. Also, Ride-by-wire is a segment-first addition and unlocks three riding modes: Eco, Road, and Power. Eco is tuned for better fuel efficiency, Road is balanced, and Power sharpens throttle response for quicker overtakes.

Cruising between 55–70 kmph is its sweet spot, with minimal vibrations. Beyond that, the engine does feel strained, but it still holds composure better than before. The biggest talking point, though, is cruise control. That’s the sort of thing that makes you raise an eyebrow at first, but Hero’s actually pulled it off on the Glamour X. And using it is surprisingly straightforward.Here’s how it works: the system will only engage once you’re doing at least 35 kmph and riding in third gear or higher. Meet those conditions, and you hit the toggle switch on the right side of the handlebar. A little cruise control icon pops up on the dash, telling you the bike’s ready. Once you’ve settled at the speed you want, you just press the switch down, and it’s done. And if you need to take back control, it’s as simple as rolling the throttle, tapping the brakes, or toggling the switch again.On our test ride, we tried it on an open stretch of highway at around 70 kmph, and it worked like a charm. It’s not something you’ll use in city traffic, but out on long, boring straights, it’s a nifty feature that genuinely makes the Glamour X feel more premium than its price tag suggests.

Now let’s talk about features, because this is where the Glamour X really punches above its commuter tag. The new fully-digital LCD console looks sharp, is easy to read even under sunlight, and packs in a gear position indicator, distance-to-empty readout, trip meters, and Bluetooth for calls, SMS alerts, and navigation.

Other handy touches include underseat storage (though refitting the seat can be a task like in our case), a USB-C charging port, and a panic brake alert that flashes the tail-lamp under hard braking. Add to that the all-LED setup with the H-shaped DRL and sleek tail-lamp, and the Glamour X looks the part too.

Verdict

At Rs 89,999 (drum) and Rs 99,999 (disc), ex-showroom, the Hero Glamour X 125 offers a lot more than just basic commuting. It has got a sharp, modern design, and packs in a lot of features as well besides employing a decent engine that has been working well for its sibling. Now, if you’re in the market for a 125cc motorcycle ticking in most boxes (and beyond) you would expect from a daily commuter, the Glamour X is definitely worth having a look at.
