Imran Khan gears up for acting COMEBACK; says post-divorce journey influenced new film

Actor Imran Khan is officially making his Bollywood comeback, after a decade-long hiatus. The actor is reportedly awaiting the release of his new film, which will star Bhumi Pednekar as the female lead. Opening up about his eagerly anticipated comeback, Khan spilled the beans to Hindustan Times, revealing that the timing of his return couldn’t be more fitting. According to the actor, his comeback coincides with the 15-year anniversary of his hit 2010 film, ‘Break Ke Baad’, co-starring Deepika Padukone. He also revealed that the film will also see him reuniting with the film’s director, Danish Aslam.

Imran on his Bollywood comeback

Speaking about the symmetry between his old film and his upcoming venture, Imran said, “The movie is just like what the team of Break Ke Baad would be doing 15 years later in life. It’s a natural progression.”“Danish and I now have a collective life experience. He’s been married, I’ve been through a divorce. It’s just the film we should make 15 years later,” he explained.

Divorce journey influences film

Calling the project deeply personal, the actor further added that the idea for the film, came from “a creative urge to tell a story with dear friends.” He also revealed that the film has already completed its shoot and is currently in its post-production stage. However, a release date will only be announced once the streaming platfor’m finalises a schedule.The upcoming film will star Bhumi Pednekar as the leading lady. Opening up about the casting, he shared, “It was a co-creative decision, we all agreed on her and what she would bring to the film.” Gushing about his first-time pairing with Bhumi, he said, “She brought a good vibe to the set, and it was the same with Gurfateh [Pirzada]. In fact, this is the happiest set I’ve ever been on.”

Imran celebrates Break Ke Baad anniversary

Back in 2023, Imran took to his handle to celebrate the film’s release anniversary. In a note, he said, “In the summer of 2010, I went to Mauritius to shoot Break ke Baad. We swam every day, ate a lot of seafood, sampled Mauritian rum (potent), and made some friends for life. It was a blast. Apparently, in between all the revelries, we managed to make a film as well. This one always had a special place in my heart, because of how much I enjoyed making it.
