After a rain-affected start to the ODI series in Perth, where India’s veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma struggled to make an impact, all eyes now shift to the second ODI against Australia at Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Australia leads the three-match series 1-0 following a seven-wicket victory in the opener, and India will be desperate to bounce back to stay alive against the hosts.India’s batting struggled in Perth due to frequent rain interruptions and impressive Australian bowling. KL Rahul’s 38 was the sole resistance as the Men in Blue managed 136 for 9 in a reduced 26-over match. Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 46 guided Australia to a comfortable chase of 131 (the total was DLS-adjusted). With the series on the line, India’s top-order needs to rediscover form under Adelaide’s more favorable conditions.

Adelaide Oval has historically been kinder to batters compared to Perth’s bouncy surfaces. India’s last ODI loss here dates back to 2008, and in their previous game at the venue, Virat Kohli’s 39th century powered a successful chase of 298 against Australia. Shorter square boundaries and moderately overcast skies could assist India’s star batters, offering a chance for Rohit and Kohli to rebound from their underwhelming showings in Perth. Australia, however, will look to exploit any seam movement in the early overs, keeping India’s middle order under pressure.

Overcast conditions may be present, but interruptions are unlikely, allowing for a full 50-over contest unlike in the series opener.
