Kunal Kamra takes a dig at Mumbai cops as they visit his Mahim home where he claims he hasn't lived in a decade: '...waste of your time and public resources'

After the police showed up at his Mahim home in Mumbai on Monday because he didn’t show up at the Khar police station for a case about his “gaddar (traitor)” comment against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, comedian Kunal Kamra mocked the officers on social media. He joked that they were wasting time and public resources, pointing out that he hadn’t lived at that address in over 10 years. Kamra also shared a picture of himself from the terrace of his current home in Tamil Nadu.
Kamra’s Social Media Dig at Police
“Going to an address where I haven’t lived for the last 10 years is a waste of your time and public resources,” he wrote in a veiled attack on the police for visiting his previous Mahim home. Kamra was supposed to appear before Khar police on Monday, marking his second summons. “A Khar police team went to his house in Mahim, where his family stays, to check whether he would appear in connection with the case or not. Since he did not, further course of action will be decided soon,” an official told news agency PTI.Additional FIRs Filed Against Kamra
After the Madras High Court granted comedian Kunal Kamra interim anticipatory bail until April 7 in connection with an FIR filed in Mumbai, three more FIRs were registered against him in Maharashtra over the same “gaddar” comment. The new cases were filed in different areas of the state and were transferred to the Khar police station for further investigation on Friday. The first FIR against Kamra was filed based on a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel.

The Controversy Behind the Comment
The controversy began after Kunal Kamra’s latest stand-up comedy set, Naya Bharat, was uploaded on YouTube. When clips from the performance went viral on social media, Shiv Sena workers vandalized the Habitat Studio at Hotel Unicontinental in Khar, where it was filmed. In response, the police filed a suo motu case against the Sena workers and arrested 12 of them, who were later released on bail.
