‘Laalo-Krishna Sada Sahaayate’ needs another Rs 6.5 crore to become the highest grossing Gujarati film of all time |
In a surprising turn at the Indian box office, it is a Gujarati film that has been ruling the roast at the ticket window. Director Ankit Sakhiya’s Laalo -Krishna Sada Sahaayate has been the biggest money spinner of the week. The film in its first week earned only Rs 21 lakh, Week 2 was Rs 24 lakh, Week 3 was Rs 43 lakh while Week 4 minted Rs 12.32 crore and in six days of week 4 the film has collected Rs 22.65 crore- taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 35.4 crore and with that it has become the second biggest Gujarati film of all time. The biggest Gujarati film of all time is Siddharth Randeria, Yash Soni and Aarohi Patel’s Chaal Jeeve Laiye, directed by Vipul Mehta. The film during its release in 2019 had collected Rs 42 crore at the box office. Trade circles have noted that Laalo- Krishna Sada Sahaayate has benefited immensely from strong word-of-mouth and repeat audiences. The film’s mix of devotion, drama, and emotion has found universal appeal among family audiences. The film now needs just a little over Rs 6.5 crore to take the top spot and set new benchmarks for the future of Gujarati Cinema. Gujarati Cinema in 2025 has been churning out one money spinner after another and too in different genres. It first saw horror genre grip the audience with Vash Level 2 headlined by Janki Bodiwala and Hitu Kanodia which was followed by heist comedy Chaniya Toli starring Yash Soni. Going by the trends, new releases like Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan and Meezaan Jaafri’s De De Pyaar De 2 and Kaantha starring Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati and Bhagyashri Borse are hardly going to have any impact on the future of the film.
