Mercedes-Benz G450d launched in India at Rs 2.9 crores: Gets a 3.0-litre diesel with 750 nm!

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new Mercedes-Benz G450d SUV in the Indian market, making the G-Class lineup available in all-electric, petrol, and diesel variants in the country. The SUV will be bought to India via the CBU route and is priced at Rs 2.9 crores (ex-showroom before options). The first batch of G-Class diesel models brought to India is limited to just 50 units. Interested customers can visit their nearest dealership for more information on availability and bookings.In terms of design, the G 450d retains the classic silhouette of the G 400d. Mercedes has introduced a few visual and functional updates to set it apart. The front grille now features four chrome-finished horizontal slats, new 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, and subtly reworked front and rear bumpers for a fresher, more refined appearance.

Moving inside, it continues to have the same interior layout and twin 12.3-inch display screens – one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment unit, both powered by the latest MBUX NTG7 interface. The SUV also integrates augmented reality navigation and a “transparent bonnet” view that proves handy during off-road adventures. Among the premium touches are Nappa leather upholstery, configurable ambient lighting, and a 760-watt, 18-speaker Burmester audio setup featuring Dolby Atmos support. The G 450d also comes equipped with a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS package, offering features such as active brake assist, lane-keeping assist, and a 360-degree surround camera system as standard.

Talking about the engine, the new Mercedes-Benz G 450d steps up performance significantly over the earlier G 350d and G 400d models previously available in India. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 367hp power (37hp more than the G 400d) and 750Nm of torque, an increase of 50 Nm. The engine comes paired to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that can provide an additional 20hp boost when needed. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 9-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels.Mercedes-Benz claims that the G 450d can sprint from 0 to 100kph in just 5.8 seconds, with top speed limited to 210kph. It offers 241mm of ground clearance between the axles and can wade through water up to 700mm deep. The SUV’s approach, breakover, and departure angles are rated at 31°, 26°, and 30°, respectively, while it remains composed even on side inclines of up to 35°.
