NEET PG counselling 2025: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a revised and consolidated schedule for NEET PG 2025 counselling, placing particular emphasis on the new dates for choice filling and choice locking for Round 1, now set to begin on November 17, 2025. The updated timeline, released after procedural delays and pending seat matrix approvals, applies to the 50 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats as well as 100 percent seats in deemed and central universities.The committee has stated that all activities, from registration to reporting, will be conducted exclusively through the official portal, mcc.nic.in.
Round 1: Critical choice filling window starts November 17
The opening round of counselling gains renewed significance as MCC has confirmed that the most crucial stage, choice filling and choice locking, will take place between November 17 and November 18, 2025.Under the revised workflow:
- Choice Filling: November 17–18 (till 11:55 pm)
- Choice Locking: November 18 (4 pm–11:55 pm)
This window will determine candidate preferences for the entire cycle, making it the most sensitive phase of the counselling process.Round 1 will commence with the verification of the tentative seat matrix by the institutes on October 23, 2025. Registration and payment will remain open until November 5, followed by the processing of seat allotment on November 19. The Round 1 seat allotment result will be released on November 20.Candidates allotted seats must report between November 21 and November 27, after which institutes will verify joined candidates from November 28 to November 30.
Round 2: Shortened cycle, result on December 10
The revised schedule for Round 2 follows a similarly compressed structure. Matrix verification is set for December 1, 2025, while registration, payment and choice filling will run from December 2 to 7.Choice locking on December 7 (4 pm–11:55 pm) will be followed by allotment processing between December 8 and 9. MCC will declare the Round 2 result on December 10.Reporting for selected candidates will take place from December 11 to 18, with institutional verification from December 19 to 21.
Round 3: Allotment result scheduled for December 31
The third round opens with matrix verification on December 22, 2025. Registration and fee payment will run from December 23 to 28, while choice filling is slated for December 24 to 28, followed by choice locking on December 28.Allotments will be processed on December 29 and 30, and the Round 3 result will be declared on December 31, 2025.Candidates must report between January 1 and January 8, 2026, with verification scheduled from January 9 to 11.
Stray vacancy round to close counselling cycle
The online stray vacancy round will serve as the final phase of NEET PG 2025 admissions. Seat matrix verification will be held on January 12, 2026, while registration, payment and choice filling will be conducted from January 13 to 18.Choice locking will conclude on January 18, followed by allotment processing on January 19 and 20. The stray vacancy round result will be declared on January 21, and reporting will continue until January 31, 2026.
Counselling realigned after administrative delays
The reshuffled calendar comes after earlier delays stemming from pending approvals of the seat matrix and clarifications required by the National Medical Commission. With the revised schedule in place, MCC has realigned every stage, ensuring candidates receive a clear and structured pathway to complete the admission process.The November 17–18 choice filling window now stands at the heart of the counselling timeline, setting the stage for the first and most consequential round of NEET PG 2025 seat allocation.
