Pariksha Pe Charcha in Assam: PM Modi interacts with students on exam stress aboard Brahmaputra cruise
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday interacted with school students during a special session of Pariksha Pe Charcha held aboard a cruise vessel on the river Brahmaputra, during his two-day visit to Assam. The interaction took place on the second day of the visit and focused on exam-related stress and academic concerns faced by students, as per inputs from PTI.The session involved 25 students from various schools across Assam and was held on the three-deck cruise vessel MV Charaidew 2. Officials said the Prime Minister spent around 45 minutes aboard the ship, engaging with students while the vessel sailed from the Guwahati Gateway Terminal, a recently inaugurated Inland Water Transport (IWT) facility.
Pariksha Pe Charcha in an unconventional setting
As reported by PTI, the interaction was conducted on the Brahmaputra, marking a departure from the usual auditorium-based format of Pariksha Pe Charcha. The Prime Minister was seen interacting with students from the upper deck of the vessel, discussing issues related to examinations, preparation methods, and academic pressure. The Prime Minister arrived at the Guwahati Gateway Terminal and accessed the cruise vessel via a floating bridge. The terminal was inaugurated recently by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inland water transport infrastructure in the region.
A small group, part of a nationwide initiative
While the Assam interaction involved a limited number of students, it forms part of a much larger Pariksha Pe Charcha initiative conducted annually at the national level. The 2026 edition of the programme has seen large participation, with registrations crossing one crore on the MyGov platform, according to official data.Students, parents, and teachers from across the country participate through online activities, quizzes, and submissions. Only a small group is shortlisted for in-person interactions with the Prime Minister, such as the Assam session held aboard the Brahmaputra cruise.
Students from across Assam participate
As per PTI inputs, the 25 students who took part in the interaction were drawn from different schools across Assam, representing varied academic backgrounds. Officials said the session allowed students to share their experiences related to exams and learning routines.Over the years, Pariksha Pe Charcha has expanded into a multi-format engagement programme, combining digital participation with select physical interactions ahead of board and competitive examinations.
Security arrangements during the visit
PTI reported that security was tightened along the Brahmaputra during the Prime Minister’s visit. Personnel from the River Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were deployed to patrol the river from early morning.Ferry services on the Brahmaputra were suspended for two days starting Saturday to facilitate security arrangements related to the visit. The student interaction formed part of the Prime Minister’s broader schedule in Assam, with education-focused outreach remaining a key component of the visit. With inputs from PTI.
