Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan ): When and who can submit life certificates
Pensioners can submit their Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) between November 1 and 30, 2025, to continue receiving their pensions without any break. However, senior citizens above 80 years can do so earlier, starting October 1, 2025, according to ET. The annual campaign is designed to simplify the process and ensure no pensioner misses the deadline due to logistical or health constraints.
Nationwide collaboration for pensioner outreach
The drive will be organised in collaboration with 19 Pension Disbursing Banks, the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), Pensioners’ Welfare Associations (PWAs), CGDA, DoT, Railways, UIDAI, and the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). These agencies will jointly reach pensioners in remote and rural areas, ET reported.Banks and IPPB will hold camps in 300 cities, while teams will also visit the homes and hospitals of aged, disabled, or ill pensioners. In addition, 57 registered PWAs will assist in mobilising pensioners and coordinating local outreach efforts.
What is a Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)?
Jeevan Pramaan is an Aadhaar-based biometric Digital Life Certificate for pensioners. It serves as an electronic verification of a pensioner’s existence, enabling continued pension payments without visiting government offices. The certificate is generated using the pensioner’s Aadhaar number and biometric authentication. Pensioners are required to submit a fresh certificate every year, as the DLC is not valid for life.
How to generate or submit Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan)
To generate a DLC, pensioners must provide their Aadhaar number, name, mobile number, and pension details such as the PPO number, pension account number, bank details, and name of the pension sanctioning authority. If a DLC has been generated previously, most details are automatically filled in.Pensioners can submit the certificate manually or digitally using several methods, including:
- Jeevan Pramaan Portal via Aadhaar authentication.
- Doorstep submission through a postman or bank representative.
- In-person submission at designated bank branches or government offices.
Aadhaar is mandatory for Jeevan Pramaan
As per ET, having an Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID) is mandatory to generate or obtain the Digital Life Certificate. This ensures secure identity verification and prevents fraudulent claims, allowing pensioners to continue receiving benefits seamlessly.
