Raid 2 Movie Review
Strong Opening for ‘Raid 2’
As per early estimates shared by Sacnilk, ‘Raid 2’ earned around Rs. 18.25 crore on its first day. The film had a decent turnout in cinemas, with about 34.36% overall occupancy across India. Morning shows saw a slower start with 21.23% occupancy, but things picked up by evening and night, with crowds filling 42% of seats by the end of the day. This solid opening sets the stage for a strong weekend, especially if word-of-mouth remains positive.
Ajay Devgn Returns as Amay Patnaik
‘Raid 2’ is a sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Raid’, which was based on a real-life income tax raid from the 1980s. In this new chapter, Devgn once again steps into the role of Amay Patnaik, the brave IRS officer known for his no-nonsense attitude and strong sense of duty. Riteish Deshmukh joins the cast this time as a corrupt politician, while Vaani Kapoor plays Amay’s wife.
Box Office Face-Off: ‘Raid 2’ vs ‘Retro’ and ‘HIT 3’
Though ‘Raid 2’ did well on day one, it’s not the only film pulling in crowds. Two other major action thrillers released on the same day — Suriya’s ‘Retro’ and Nani’s ‘HIT: The Third Case’. According to Sacnilk, ‘Retro’ slightly edged out ‘Raid 2’ by earning Rs. 19.25 crore on its first day. Meanwhile, ‘HIT 3’ was not far behind either, collecting Rs. 18 crore. All three films are targeting fans of intense action and gripping storylines, which has led to a packed and competitive box office. The real test for these films will be the weekend. Whichever movie keeps its momentum going could emerge as the winner.
‘Bhootnii’ Barely Survives
Sanjay Dutt’s horror-comedy ‘Bhootnii’ also released alongside these big films, but didn’t make much of a mark. According to early estimates, the film earned only Rs. 65 lakh on its first day.
With a head start of Rs. 18.25 crore, ‘Raid 2’ is well-placed to make a strong weekend collection. However, its real challenge lies in staying ahead of ‘Retro’ and ‘HIT 3’, which are currently neck and neck in box office numbers.
