Ranjeet recalls Madhuri Dixit sobbing after their molestation scene in Prem Pratigya: ‘I never touched her’ | Hindi Movie News

Veteran Bollywood actor Ranjeet, who is known for his villainous roles in over 500 films since 1970, recently recalled an incident with Madhuri Dixit during the filming of their 1989 movie Prem Pratigya. The actress, who was relatively new to the industry at the time, was initially terrified to work with him due to his on-screen image of playing ruthless villains, especially in molestation scenes.
In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, Ranjeet shared how Madhuri was frightened and even cried before shooting a crucial scene with him. “Prem Pratigya was the name of the film, Madhuri was new then. My image had been created as a ‘ruthless killer, crude villain’. Girls and boys would fear me. Madhuri had heard about me, and she was panicking. We had a molestation scene together. Veeru Devgn was our fight master. The scene was that I had to molest her on a handcart. I was in a rush for my other shoot and had no idea about her situation on set. I came to know about Madhuri later,” Ranjeet recalled.
He further explained how the situation unfolded. “I realised she was crying. Then they consoled her, told her, ‘I was a good man’. Ultimately, she agreed to give the shot. Now, when we were giving the shot, I used to be very cooperative with my fellow artists. After the scene was cut, people clapped. She was sobbing, the producer and others rushed to her and asked her, ‘Are you okay?’ She said, ‘I never realised anything. He never even touched me.’”
Ranjeet emphasized that despite the intense nature of the scene, he never physically touched Madhuri Dixit and only acted out the sequence by moving her around on the handcart. “She herself told that I never touched her on a television show,” he added.
Following Prem Pratigya, Madhuri Dixit and Ranjeet went on to work together in films like Kishen Kanhaiya (1990) and Koyla (1997).
