The film which released on 2nd October went past USD 3 million mark within the first 6 days at the ticket window. Usually the trend with films from the Southern part of India is that they make most of their money within the first few days while Hindi films earn their money over their entire theatrical run. But with Kantara2 , while its start was slow in the first week, its second week is keeping up with the first week. The film took just 6 days to add another USD 1 million to its kitty, taking the overall collection of the film to USD 4.09 million. But despite the jump in collections, the film is till far away from it’s breakeven point which is conservatively pegged at USD 7.5 million mark.
The film on its 11th day added USD 240 K to the collection which aided it;s journey beyond the USD 4 million mark. On day 10, it earned USD 335K and on day 9 the number was USD 218K. On day 8 it had collected USD 122 K.
