Veteran actor Satish Shah, known for his work in ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, and more, has passed away today at the age of 74. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news with a social media post. As soon as the news surfaced online, fans, along with actors from the film and television industries, took to their social media accounts to mourn his demise.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis paid a tribute to the veteran actor Satish Shah on his social media. Sharing a post on X, he wrote, “I am stunned by the news of the demise of the renowned actor of the Indian film world, Shri Satish Shah Ji. With his acting and his amazing comedic style in films like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, ‘Judwaa’ and serials like ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, he ruled the hearts of the audience. His departure has caused an irreparable loss to the Indian art sector. May God grant peace to his soul and give strength to his family, acquaintances and all the people associated with him to bear this pain. Om Shanti 🙏.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar posted a photo of Shah on his Instagram Stories and captioned it, “Satish Shah, Om Shanti.”

Actor R. Madhavan, who appeared with Shah in the 1997 TV show ‘Jamai Raja’, posted a throwback photo with the actor and Mandira Bedi on Instagram. He wrote, “The heavens will be a merrier and a happier place now .Satish Ji we make the Gods laugh out loud as they admire their own creation. Thank you for being such a solid wind beneath my wings early on in my career… for constantly believing in me and egging me on. You will be missed you so very much Satish Ji.. A void that can never be filled… Rest in Eternal Peace sir as we grapple on how to carry on without you. OM Shanthi.”

“Rest in peace, dearest Satish. You were a joy to know and work with. will miss u sending me memes n jokes everyday,” wrote Farah Khan on Instagram.

Ashoke Pandit, Shah’s friend and industry colleague, said, “It is a huge loss for our industry. He was a very jovial person.”

Actor-comedian Johnny Lever posted, “Feeling extremely sad to share that we’ve lost a great artist & my dearest friend of over 40 years. It’s hard to believe—I had spoken to him just two days ago. Satish Bhai, you will truly be missed. Your immense contribution to film and television will never be forgotten. 🙏🏽🕊️ @sats.workplace.”
