NEW DELHI: A Cricket Australia (CA) delegation has arrived in Lahore to assess security arrangements ahead of the team’s three-match T20I series against Pakistan in January. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Australia are scheduled to tour Pakistan early next year for a white-ball series to be played in two phases. The opening phase features a three-match T20I series in January. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to announce the final venues and dates, indications suggest that all three matches are likely to be hosted in Lahore.
During their visit, the CA delegation will inspect facilities at the Gaddafi Stadium and the LCCA Ground in Lahore, along with reviewing arrangements at the team hotel. They will also meet with PCB officials, as well as government and security authorities, to discuss comprehensive plans for the tour.Australia are also set to return to Pakistan in March for a three-match ODI series, although there are growing signs that the ODI leg could be shifted to another window ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.Additionally, officials from the Australian High Commission recently met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi — who also serves as Pakistan’s federal interior minister — to discuss the upcoming tour. The meeting followed reports that several Sri Lankan players were advised by their board to remain in Pakistan and complete their white-ball series last month.A few Sri Lankan cricketers had requested to return home after the first ODI in Rawalpindi, in the wake of a suicide bomb blast in Islamabad.
