Shruti Haasan says she was close to getting married but is petrified by the idea, hence never wants to get into it: ‘I have worked so hard my whole life to be own person’ | Hindi Movie News

Shruti Haasan isn’t just an actor but also a great singer who is known to rock the stage when she performs live. Being Kamal Haasan and Sarika’s daughter, while acting is in her genes, Shruti is also quite clear and articulate in her views and loved for that. She had said in an interview a while ago that she doesn’t see herself getting married. In a recent conversation, Shruti has yet again reflected on the idea and her opinion about marriage is still the same. Shruti had confirmed her break-up with long-term boyfriend Shantanu Hazarika a while ago. Now in an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia she has confirmed that she’s still single. When asked about why she doesn’t want to get married, she said, “I just want to say I am petrified of the idea of marriage. I have worked so hard my whole life to be own person. The idea of attaching it by a piece of paper, feels really scary to me. That’s it. But I believe in commitment, I believe in loyalty and I believe in all those beautiful things that marriage is supposed to represent. I can do that on my own. I don’t need a piece of paper.” She was asked if she was close to getting married once. “Yes,” she said and when asked about why it didn’t happen, she responded, “It wasn’t my fault. It was incompatibility. Because that’s a future- that’s potential children, that’s so many things.” While she doesn’t want to get married, she’s always wanted to have kids. “I have always wanted to be a mother. But I have never wanted to be a single mother, because two parents are important for a child. If you can work towards having two parents, that would be great. I am not shaming those who have one parent. Of course not,” said Shruti. Talking about being single and loving it, she said, “I love myself the most now. How many times do we want a partner because we are feeling lonely? And how many times we want them just because we actually have the space to incorporate them as a value addition into our life? What I see happening is lot of people choose partnership because they are so petrified of being alone. So what I am working on is solitude. Not calling it loneliness. Being comfortable in my solitude first before getting into that space.” On work front, Shruti will be seen next in ‘Coolie’ with Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
