'The Resurrection of the Christ': Mel Gibson's ambitious project to be on sale at THIS rate, without script reveal

Mel Gibson’s project ‘The Resurrection of the Christ’ has a jaw-dropping production cost, as the film will be released in two parts. However, the films will reportedly go on sale at next month’s American Film Market – without any reference to the script. With such a rare incentive for an independent film, the bidders would need to have faith in the actor’s ambitious project.

About ‘The Resurrection of the Christ

Each film would cost nearly USD 100 million, which makes the sum of USD 200 million for the package deal, according to Deadline. The film, which is currently being shot in Rome, Italy, has a shroud of secrecy, even with the scripts. If the notes are being taken from the Bible, the film will be picked up at Christ’s crucifixion and continue to Christ’s resurrection, which was three days later. However, the literary translation cannot be expected from Gibson’s vision of the film being ‘an acid trip’ and ‘super ambitious.’ The report proclaimed that the film would have a battle between angels and demons in different realms to portray ‘good vs evil,’ suggesting the reason for a high bill.

The prequel: ‘The Passion of the Christ

‘The Resurrection of the Christ’ is the sequel to the 2004 film ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ which made millions at the box office as well as received critical acclaim. With a USD 30 million budget, the film managed to earn USD 610 million. The expectations for the upcoming film have increased since it’s being made with triple the budget of the prequel. However, the previous film had backlash as well, with antisemitic allegations, as well as due to historical accuracy and violent graphics. The first part will be released on Good Friday, March 26, 2027, and the second part will be released 40 days later on Ascension Day.
