US content creator says working on THIS Bollywood film was the “WORST JOB”; reveals she switched careers |
‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ the Blockbuster Bollywood film is back in the headlines, nearly two decades after its release, this time because of a video by an American content creator. In the viral clip, the woman claims to have had the bad experience working on the film that she claimed was her “worst job.“
Recalling her time on the Kal Ho Na Ho sets
Ash Cantley, a US-based creator best known for her Talk Pop To Me series on pop culture and celebrity gossip, claimed she once worked on the film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. Recalling her experience on the film sets, she said, “I worked on Kal Ho Naa Ho, and it was so bad that I ended up switching careers.”She also revealed that while at first she thought the movie was “some random Indian film,” she later discovered it was ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, a movie her fellow creator described as “the Titanic of Indian films.”
Claims project was the ‘worst job’
Cantley said in her video, “I had such a bad experience on that film that I probably tried to block it out. I got paid $75 a day for 12 to 17-hour shifts. I was a set designer — I spent most of my time redesigning this diner, inch by inch.”She alleged that the diner was “abandoned” and filled with “so much filth,” calling it “the worst job of my life.”
On unequal pay
In her videos, she also claimed that she was “severely underpaid” and alleged that there was a pay disparity on the sets. “I think the men got paid $125,” she said, and added, “I accepted it because I was young, dumb, and desperate to get into the industry. I’m not angry about it as most production jobs were like that. We were all paid peanuts.”
Cantley issues clarification
Cantley’s video sparked mixed reactions in the comments sections, prompting her to share a follow-up clip, clarifying that has “no proof” of working on the film, beyond her IMDb listing. She also added that issues of pay parity and long working hours were not restricted to Bollywood. She said, “Hollywood has the same problems too.”The romantic drama went on to become one of the biggest box office hits of the time and still remains one of the most beloved Hindi films.
