WBCHSE HS result 2025: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has officially declared the Higher Secondary (Class 12) results 2025 on May 7, 2025. The results were first announced around 12:45 PM during a press conference and made available online from 2:00 PM. Students can access their results through official websites—wbresults.nic.in and wbchse.wb.gov.in—as well as via SMS, mobile apps, and DigiLocker platforms.This year, the overall pass percentage has stood at an impressive 90.79%, marking a marginal increase from the previous year’s 90%.The council has confirmed that this is the last year of the annual exam system, a practice in place since 1978. From 2026 onwards, the HS examinations will adopt a semester-based format.Performance across gender, communities, and districtsA total of 4,82,948 students had enrolled for the West Bengal HS Exams 2025, with 4,73,919 students ultimately appearing for the exams, which were conducted from March 3 to March 18, 2025. The exams were held across six different mediums. Among those who appeared, male students recorded a pass percentage of 92.03%, while female students achieved a pass rate of 88.12%.Performance across social categories and academic streams reflected strong results. Scheduled Caste (SC) students recorded an 89% pass rate, Scheduled Tribe (ST) students achieved 83.05%, and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students reached 89.93%. In terms of stream-wise performance, the Science stream led with a 99.46% pass percentage, followed by Commerce at 97.52%, and Arts at 90.7%. Top scorers and merit list detailsA total of 72 candidates have secured positions in the top 10 merit list, showcasing the academic excellence achieved across the state. Leading the list is Rupayan Pal from Burdwan CMS High School, who scored 497 out of 500, securing 99.4%. The top four positions are as follows:
New changes ahead: Semester system and QR-coded mark sheetsThe 2025 batch marks the final group of students under the annual exam format. Starting next academic session, WBCHSE will implement a semester system, consisting of two sessions—one in September and the other in March. Semester 1 and 2 will comprise MCQ-based papers, while the remaining two will feature descriptive-type questions.In another first, WBCHSE has introduced QR codes and percentile scores on the marksheets to enhance result authentication. Hard copies of mark sheets and pass certificates will be distributed to respective schools on May 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM onwards.Exam integrity and grading standards remain strongThe council has confirmed that there were no incidents of question paper leaks during the 2025 exams. Schools conducted practical examinations during January and February 2025, as per WBCHSE norms. The grading system requires students to score a minimum of 30 out of 100 marks in each subject—combining both theory and practical components—to be declared pass.Support for students: Revaluation and compartment options availableStudents unsatisfied with their results can apply for Post Publication Scrutiny (PPS) or Post Publication Review (PPR). Applications must be submitted online, and the revaluation results are expected to be declared by June 2025, aligning with the previous year’s schedule.Additionally, students who have failed in one or two subjects may opt for compartment exams, which are likely to be held around August or September 2025. Results of these exams are tentatively expected by September 2025.
